Freckle Lemonade
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup strawberries, sliced
1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6)
4 cups cold water
Ice
Lemon sliced for garnish (optional)
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Let cool completely.
2. In a pitcher pour lemon juice onto the strawberries slices, let stand for 5 minutes or until strawberry juice has come out. Add syrup and 4 cups of cold water to the strawberries mixture, stir together. Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices.
Tips: Before squeezing juice from the lemons, roll them on the countertop, applying gentle pressure with the heel of your palm. This will really get the lemons’ juices flowing and make it easier to squeeze them.
